Security Beach is sure to be popular among punters in the New Ross Maiden Hurdle at 2:35, hailing from the Mullins-Giggnstown combination. He was rated 75 on the flat and he finished second to a horse rated 109 on his first appearance. At his mere price off 11/10 he would not be worth backing on that form. An interesting horse is the Gordon Elliot trained Bayan. He was fairly useful on the Flat for Brian Meehan and showed a liking for this sphere when seventh of 17 to Flaxen Flare (winner at Cheltenham since) at Leopardstown in December. He could have potentially improved from that and is one to keep an eye in the markets in this.
There is a weak renewal of the Curracloe Maiden Hurdle at 3:05. Some Drama is really the only horse who brings from in to the race and should take all the beating. Dominetta Vitali would be a threat if reproducing her autumn placed efforts. Soul Train has obviously had his problems but Dermot Weld persists with him with him interesting and could be worth keeping an eye on.
Supreme Carolina did well to win at Leopardstown over two miles and this step back up in trip will suit he. She looks like she is open to more improvement over this distance. Gates Of Rome might be good enough to take this contest on his favoured conditions and he is surely the one to watch.
Lastoftheleaders has been impressive all year. He picked up a nice race at Punchestown when beating subsequent Cheltenham winner Alderwood, along with finishing second on his latest outing to a very progressive horse Mount Benbulben. Today’s contest looks the most straightforward to date and he will be hard bet despite his large penalty in the Bettyville Park Veterans Handicap Steeplechase at 4:35. Whatyouthink and Beneficial Spirit pose the biggest threat.
Reality Dose could still be well handicapped in the Pinnacle Novice Handicap Steeplechase at 5:05. He won in good style on his previous start at Naas when connections felt the drop back in trip had made a big difference. The way he won then a 9lb higher mark doesn’t look over harsh. Moiqen was a game winner at Thurles last month and looks on a fair mark for his handicap debut.
