Japan have booked their place in the 2015 Rugby World Cup group stage after winning the Asian Five Nations tournament. The Cherry Blossoms claimed the title by beating Hong Kong 49-8 in an emphatic performance in Tokyo.
Japan joins South Africa, Scotland, Samoa and USA in Pool B of the most prestigious international competition in World Rugby which kicks off in September 2015.
Despite losing heavily, Hong Kong can still qualify for the World Cup through the back door system. They must defeat Uruguay and either Russia or an African team to secure the final place in Pool A alongside hosts Wales, two time World Cup champions Australia and either Fiji or the Cook Islands.
Japan, who are managed by former Australia head coach Eddie Jones, have qualified for every World Cup since its inception in 1987. They will be the host nation for the 2019 tournament.
