Connacht back-row is set for a lengthy layoff after damaging ligaments in his knee during Ireland A’s 53-0 win over Fiji in Thomand Park on Saturday night.

Connacht are 250/1 to top Pool C in the Heinken Cup with Boylesports.com

Muldoon confirmed the results of a scan on his twitter account last night, which will see him miss out on the Westerners Heineken Cup clashes with Biarritz next month.

The Portumna man was stretchered off in visible discomfort just after half time on a night where Craig Gilroy shone for Declan Kidney’s young side.

Ireland now make the task of securing their world ranking in the top eight and ensuring a second seeding place in the World Cup by beating an increasingly impressive Argentina side in the Aviva Stadium this Saturday at 2.00pm.
