David Tweed, a former Ireland rugby international, appeared in court today in Antrim on a charge of child abuse.
Tweed, who is a councillor with the Traditional Unionist Voice, denies the charge of abusing the girl, who is now an adult, over a nine year period.
The case began a number of days ago but was under reporting restrictions, the trial is ongoing.
The 53 year old represented Ireland on four occasions and played in the 1995 World Cup.
