The Munster outfit have made a fine recovery from a shaky start to the campaign and are now one of the leading contenders.

Two trips to the capital yielded victories over Clontarf and today’s opponents, and despite being nine points adrift of Lansdowne, the league leaders still have to visit Leeside. With eight games remaining in the competition, the title is far from decided, and Cork Con supporters know that today’s game is crucial as defeat would all but finish their league ambitions.

St Mary’s are also a side in desperate need of points, as a loss of form in recent weeks has seen them dragged into a relegation battle. They are always a very difficult test for the Cork men and certainly will not lie down without a fight this afternoon. If the visitors are to have any chance of upsetting the odds, they will need to keep close tabs on Con out-half Johnny Holland who has been a star in recent games. The number ten scored all twenty one points in the defeat of Garyowen and will be hoping to add to that tally on Saturday.

In a game where points are critical for both sides, the home team are given a narrow vote to claim the win. Their better recent form and home advantage should be enough to see them over the line.

Verdict: Cork Constitution
