Munster Rugby has issued an update on the refurbishment of Musgrave Park in Cork.
The province confirmed that Dutch firm BAM will be the main contractor on the €3.2 mil redevelopment of the stadium which will commence following an Il Divo concert in Musgrave Park on June 21.
A new West Stand is being built under the project that will seat 3,500 fans, increasing the overall capacity of the grounds to 9,500. New changing rooms will be built within the stand replacing the old ones at Dolphin and Sunday’s Well end.
The new West Stand will also feature a medical room, media room, meeting rooms, commentary booth and a large function room for pre and post-match receptions. The function room will also be available on non-match days for private hire.
The West Terrace has been removed completely prior to building to the new stand, which the club hopes will be built in time for the new season.
