Shannon host Cork Constitution in Division One of the Ulster Bank AIL this weekend, knowing that they cannot afford another defeat this season. The Limerick side have really fought tooth and nail in recent weeks, despite currently sitting bottom of the league table.

As former multiple winners of the competition, the current standings must make fordifficult reading if you are a Shannon supporter. Little has gone right for the side in this campaign, but to their credit they have not conceded defeat. The Great Escape is still very much a possibility if they can get a bonus point victory this weekend.

Form

Shannon needed a big win against UL Bohs in the penultimate round, and when the gun was to their head they came out and delivered the goods. It seemed to be asking too much for a repeat performance against Old Belvedere in the latest round of matches, but again the Limerick side came away with the points. Cork Con suffered a heavy loss to Landsdowne in that round, and heads may well be low on Saturday. If there is a good time for Shannon to face the Cork side, it could just be now.

Players To Watch

John Shine has been the chief try scorer for Shannon this year, and supporters will be looking for more of the same against Cork Con. The visitors will look to Johnny Holland to see them over the line.

Betting Advice:

Shannon may be bottom of the table but they are fighting for their lives, and it would take a brave man to back against them.
