10 Players to watch out for in the 2013-2014 Premier League
1. Kolo Toure
He has joined Liverpool on a free transfer and I think this could be a very good piece of business by Brendan Rogers. He is a proven Premier League defender and he will bring good experience to the Liverpool squad. He is a winner, having won trophies at Arsenal and Manchester City and I think he still has a lot to offer.
2. Sergio Aguero
Injuries plagued his second season in the Premier League and I think he could bounce back and have a huge impact this season. Manchester City have signed two new strikers this summer and therefore there are very few people talking about Aguero. He was brilliant in his first season and if he makes a full recovery I think he could score 20+ goals again.
This Brazilian international had a very good Confederations Cup and he will be looking for a big season to be sure of his place in the Brazil side for the World Cup. Tottenham paid £17 million for his services and he could be a very good fit in the centre of their midfield as they look to push for the Champions League.
4. Steven Caulker
He has moved away from Tottenham for first team football to try and boost his England chances. It is a brave and admirable move for the young defender who looks to be a player of huge potential. He has moved to Cardiff City and moves likes this can either make or break a player. Playing regularly may prove to be great for Caulker and I think he is a player who may be spoken about a lot this season.
5. Robbie Brady
He is an Irish international who moved away from Manchester United in the pursuit of regular football. Playing at a lesser club like Hull City will give Brady a lot of responsibility and I think he could thrive. He is very good technically and from an Irish point of view it would be great to see Brady do well. He has good creativity and his delivery from set-plays could also cause problems.
6. Loic Remy
Although he favoured a mover to Queens Park Rangers over Newcastle in January, Newcastle have gone back to Remy as they attempt to fill the void vacated by Demba Ba. Remy looked good during his spell at QPR and it will be interesting to see how he will do in his first full season in the Premier League.
7. Victor Wanyama
Wanyama is a power-house in midfield and he showed in last season’s Champions League campaign that he is well able to mix it with the very best. The physicality of the Premier League should suit him. He commanded a big transfer fee so there will be expectation but I think Wanyama and Southampton could be a good match. I think he will do well.
8. Nicolas Anelka
He is very hit and miss but he has generally delivered in the Premier League. West Brom have signed him on a free transfer and it’s definitely worth a gamble. Anelka has scored goals at Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton and Chlelsea and while he isn’t getting any younger, he will still put fear into defenders. He is a volatile character but on form he can be a good striker.
9. Jesus Navas
I think he could have a huge impact on this Premier League season. He is a totally different type of player to what already exists in the Manchester City squad and he will add natural width to their style of play. He is a proven winger at the highest level of European football and could have a big impact in England.
10. Vito Mannone
When Mannone was given chances at Arsenal he did quite well and I think he could do very well as a first team regular. He has moved to Sunderland and the run of games could do him the world of good. He deputised very well at Arsenal at the beginning of last season and it could be the start of a good career at a new club.
