Alan Keane looking for Shamrock Rovers win tonight

Updated: September 25, 2012

Sligo Rovers Alan Keane is hoping Shamrock Rovers can do the Bit O’Red a favour this evening and deal a hammer blow to St.Patrick’s Athletic’s title ambitions.

Keane knows tonight’s huge game can help Sligo secure the league title but the former Galway player isn’t counting any chickens just yet.

Speaking exclusively to SportsNewsIreland, Keane said that tonight’s game is a huge one in terms of the season for both sides.

Shamrock Rovers’ title hopes are all but over, however St.Pat’s are right in the hunt, and Keane expects the game to be very close due to the fact the Rovers have a European place to secure also.

“I’m sure shams will be looking to bounce back after a bad week for them and get their 1st win under new manager Brian Laws.

“Another big thing is Europe. For them to get into a European spot they will want a win and obviously a win against Pats would be great for us.

“It’s a tough stage of the season though and we aren’t looking for favours, as we know if we win our games we will win the league.

“I’m not saying we wouldn’t want them as of course any favours thrown our way we would gladly accept, however it will be a tough game for both teams I’m sure of that. There are no certainties tonight.”

Shamrock Rovers take on St.Patrick’s Athletic tonight at Richmond Park with kick-off expected to take place at 7.45pm.
