Demba Ba has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from St. James’ Park.
The Senegalese striker has been in great form for Newcastle since joining from West Ham in the summer.
The 26 year old has scored 16 goals in his last 16 Premier League matches, while Ba immediately returned to form after the African Cup of Nations as he found the net against Aston Villa on Sunday.
The striker’s impressive form led to speculation that Ba could leave Newcastle during the January transfer window or in the summer.
Ba, however, has moved to dismiss these fears. He said, “I was listening to people saying ‘He’s going here, he’s going there,’ and I had a big smile on my face.”
“It was so funny to me. I never talked to anyone about wanting to leave.
“The most important thing is being happy in your football and I am.”
Ba reportedly has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave on the cheap in the summer, but Newcastle are believed to be moving quickly to give the striker a new contract.
