Bolton signed England U21 striker Marvin Sordell from Championship club Watford on transfer deadline day.
The Trotters agreed a fee believed to be £4m for the 20 year old, who scored 10 goals for the Championship club this season.
The signing is a coup for Owen Coyle, who wanted to add firepower to his attack.
Ivan Klasnic is Bolton’s top scorer with seven league goals but has not played in Bolton’s last three Premier League matches. Kevin Davies and David N’Gog, meanwhile, have combined for four league goals this season.
Speaking about the deal, Owen Coyle said: “I am delighted to have brought Marvin to our club. There were a number of other Premier League clubs tracking him.
“We know that he has great potential and I am really looking forward to working with him.”
Sordell made his debut for Watford in 2009 and scored 27 goals for the club.
