Efe Ambrose starts for Celtic in the first leg of the Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville in a volotile Belfast City.

The Nigeria defender was given extra time off following the Confederations Cup but Neil Lennon thinks he is fit enough to start tonight.

Adam Matthews, Charlie Mulgrew, Joe Ledley and Virgil van Dijk are injured, while new signing Steven Mouyokolo is unavailable.

Striker Gary Hooper, struggling with a groin strain, did not travel.

Lennon had said Ambrose looks in “good condition” ahead of the Champions League qualifier.

“These guys play almost 12 months a year. He has had a couple of weeks off,” said the Celtic boss.

“He had a heavy schedule with the Confederations Cup, had a holiday, did a little bit of training in Nigeria and then joined us yesterday and he looks fine.

“It probably would have been ideal for him to do a little bit of conditioning work but looking at him yesterday he looks in fine fettle.”

Cliftonville manager Tommy Breslin has reported no injury worries.

Celtic FC fans were warned not wear their jerseys in the city centre of Belfast this evening due to the rioting around marching season.

Cliftonville starting team: Devlin, McGovern, R Scannell, Johnston, Caldwell, McMullan, Garrett, Smyth, Catney, Gormley, Boyce.

Celtic starting team: Forster; Lustig, Wilson, Ambrose, Izaguirre; Commons, Brown, Kayal, Forrest; Stokes, Samaras SUBS subs: Zaluska, Amido, Rogic, Irvine, McGeouch, Waters, Watt
