David Meyler has joined Hull City on loan from Sunderland until January where he will team up with Manchester United’s rising Ireland star Robbie Brady.

Hull manager Steve Bruce worked with Meyler at Sunderland and was made a move for the Cork man when he fell out of the first team under Martin O’Neill.

Meyler moved to the Stadium of Light in 2008 from Cork City but has struggled with a cruciate ligament injury.

Despite regularly featuring as a substitute over the last few months the return of Phil Bardsley and Lee Cattermole means that he will struggle for game time, and he was left out of the squad against Aston Villa at the weekend.

O’Neill has spoken highly of Meyler’s attitude and determination but Bruce has been eager to add him to the Tigers’ squad as they push for automatic promotion.

Meyler made his Ireland debut along new club-mate Brady, who joined Hull last week on a one month loan deal, against Oman in September.

Great signing for Hull, two very good Irish internationals should help them get promoted to the Premiership.
