Everton FC face a tough battle to keep Marouane Fellaini this summer. with four of Europe’s major clubs expressing an interest in the Belgian.
Fellaini has been a revelation in this season’s Premier League and has won the praise of suitors throughout Europe. Since signing from Standard Liege for a club-record fee of £15 million in 2008, Fellaini has become one of the Premier League’s best players.
Everton boss David Moyes is desperate to hold onto the Belgian, but knows that the lure of Champions League football is something that Everton will struggle to contend with. Everton have an outside chance of finishing in the ‘Top Four’ this season, and Moyes is aware of potential repercussions should they fall short.
Moyes’ Everton success is built on financial astuteness and is aware that the club would struggle to refuse a monster bid from Europe’s elite. He has denied reports of a £24 million buy-out clause in the curly-haired Belgian’s contract and has been swift to dismiss reports of a Fellaini move.
However, Real Madrid and Chelsea have expressed an interest in the hard-tackling midfielder and are expected to lodge £20 million bids to test Moyes’ resolve. Both Manchester clubs have also identified Fellaini as a target, knowing they can offer Everton’s star player far more than the £75,000 weekly wage he currently earns at Goodison Park.
Everton boss David Moyes faces the proverbial ‘catch-22′, as he hopes Fellaini can continue his superb performances, but knows that it will ultimately lead to more top European clubs knocking on the Goodison door.
Everton are 11/1 with Boylesports.com to finish in the ‘Top Four’ in this season’s Premier League.
