A twitter account in the name of BBC football pundit, and former Spurs striker Garth Crooks, which claimed that Celtic manager Neil Lennonw as set to leave the Parkhead club and take over as manager of Championship club Norwich City, has been revealed to be fake.
The account claimed that Celtic manager Neil Lennon was due to be appointed in the next 48 hours, saying: “It is happening and he can’t wait.”
Subsequently Lennon’s odds for becoming the next City manager have tumbled from 33/1 to 4/1 with bookmakers, admitting there had been a rush of money staked on the Lurgan man following the tweets.
However the BBC has confirmed that the former Tottenham Hotspur forward is not on Twitter and that the tweet is not genuine.
A BBC spokesman said: “Garth is not on Twitter, this is a completely fake account.”
