Fantasy Football Game week 28 top tips

Updated: March 10, 2012

Its another big weekend for Fantasy Football enthusiasts around the country as we enter Game week 28 in the Premier league. SportsNewsIreland and have come together to give you their tips for the weekend ahead.

GW 27’s standout performance was Fulham’s 5-0 demolition of seemingly doomed Wolves. A scout-pick last week, Pawel Pogrebnyak delivered on my promise and bagged the perfect hat-trick: right-foot, left-foot & head for 17 fantasy pts. Clint Dempsey scored the other two for 15 pts.

Liverpool lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal or precisely Robin Van Persie who bagged both goals for 13 pts in a match that the home team should really have won but again were not clinical enough in front of goal. If only Andy Carroll had started…

The top-scoring player of the week, surprisingly though, was Ashley Young who rediscovered some of his early season form with 2 goals & an assist for 18 pts in Man Utd’s impressive victory over Spurs. Although to be fair Young’s been injured for large chunks of the season. A previous scout-pick Gylfi Sigurdsson also scored both goals in Swansea’s 2-0 win over Wigan for 15 pts.

In the SNI league in association, there is some big news this week for David Arrigan has finally been toppled! And not only has he been toppled but he’s fallen spectacularly to 6th place after scoring a paltry 19 pts! Our new leader is Keith Flynn who is 3 pts clear at the top over the chasing pack led by Andrew O’Dowd with the likes of Jay Krehbiel, Erie Dwan, Gareth Brogan all only at most 6 pts off first.

GW 28 is a double game week with Liverpool and Everton playing their rescheduled fixture. Can one trust either side to pick a captain from? Probably not but here are my player picks this week:

• Ryo Miyaichi – Bolton – 4.9m. On loan from Arsenal, the young Japanese midfielder is highly rated and after an eye-catching display in the FA Cup, he has a good chance to score some fantasy pts this weekend against free-falling QPR.

• Matt Jarvis – Wolves – 5.7m. Wolves have certainly been underwhelming of late but if there’s a game they must win and can win it’s at home to Blackburn. If they’re going to win they need their talisman to have a good game.

• Grant Holt – Norwich – 5.2m. The big man can be England’s hero in the Euro Championships. The Holt for England campaign starts here. In the meantime Norwich have a home game against Wigan where he has a further chance to stake his claim for a place on the flight to Ukraine.
