Former Everton and Man City striker jailed for seven years over drug deal

Former Everton striker Michael Branch has been sentenced to seven years in jail today after pleading guilty to selling three kg of amphetamine in a Liverpool car-park and a second charge relating to a cocaine seizure at his home.

Branch was charged in Chester Crown Court with the charges being brought by the Serious Organised Crime Agency.

The 34 year old began his career at the Everton academy in 1995 and made his debut under Joe Royle before loan spells at Manchester City, Birmingham and Wolves which lead to a move to the club where he scored 6 times in 62 appearances.

Branch continued playing for Burscough Town in the Northern premier League, a division below the English Football Conference.
