In an entertaining encounter, the Russian took the lead through the tournament’s top scorer Alan Dzogoev who scored his third goal in two games with a header from an Andrei Arshavin free kick.
Poland came back into in the second half as the game opened up and they duly equaliser with a lovely finish into the top corner from Borussia Dortmund winger Kuba Blaszczykowski.
Russia now sit top of the group and they will win the group with a win over Greece while the hosts Poland remain in contention for a quarter final spot with two points from two games.
Poland will now face a winner takes all clash with the Czech Republic on Saturday after they Czech’s bounced back from their heavy opening day defeat to Russia with a 2-1 win over Greece.
Petr Jiracek and the impressive Vaclav Pilar put the Czech’s in control inside the opening 6 minutes and while the Greek’s managed to pull one back in the opening minutes of the second half it was not enough for the 2004 winners who now face a do or die battle with Russia.
