Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho decided to help his side in an unorthodox fashion by taking out Olly Murs with a trip from behind in a Soccer Aid charity match.
The Portuguese man, who was in charge of the Rest of the World team, ran out onto the pitch during the game and hilariously brought down the former X-Factor contestant as he was receiving a pass.
Mourinho coolly walked back to his seat after Murs fell to the ground in a heap and the referee awarded the free kick. The incident was laughed off by the players.
Mourinho’s actions might have inspired his side as they defeated England 4-2 with the aid of a hat-trick from AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf. Westlife’s Nicky Byrne scored the other goal for Rest of the World while ex-pros Jamie Redknapp and Kevin Phillips found the net for England.
Both teams contained a host of celebrities including actor Jeremy Renner, TV chef Gordan Ramsay and comedian Jack Whitehall.
All proceeds from the match went to children’s charity organisation UNICEF. The total raised for the charity surpassed £4.2 million by the final whistle.
