Mark Hughes has confirmed QPR are in talks to sign former Liverpool and Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse.
QPR have struggled in front of goal this season, with only Wigan scoring less Premier League goals than the London club.
Rangers have been reliant on Heidur Helguson, who has scored eight of QPR’s 22 goals, and Hughes is desperate to add firepower to his attack.
Cisse joined Lazio in the summer from Greek side Panathinaikos but the Frenchman has failed to earn a regular place in the team.
Hughes said: “We are looking at that situation and we will try to progress on that.
“As a club we don’t like to flag things up until they are actually done and dusted and we are far from that in regards to Cisse.
“So until we do I can’t confirm one way or the other but certainly there is an interest there.”
Cisse began his career at Auxerre before moving to Liverpool in 2004. The Frenchman started well but a serious leg break derailed his Anfield career.
The 30 year old then played for Marseille for two seasons before spending a year on-loan at Sunderland, where he scored 10 goals in 35 league games.
Cisse’s time in Greece was prolific, as he scored 43 goals in 65 games in the Greek league. A move to Italy failed to work out, however, and Cisse now looks set to re-start his Premier League career.
