Following the news that Ireland will play England in Wembley on May 29th, the FAI has confirmed that the reciprocal fixture in the Aviva Stadium will take place in Novemeber 2014.
The last time the two countries met the north of Ireland was gripped in The Troubles and the game at Lansdowne Road was full of nervous political tension.
The tension soon boiled over as England fans stormed the pitch in Dublin and the clash in February 1995 was postponed after just 27 minutes of play.
It is a great achievement for the FAI, who tried to secure a friendly with England this year before the teams were drawn as possibilities for a Euro 2012 quarter-final.
As the game is being played at Wembley it is believed the FAI will be owed a return fixture and a game at the Aviva Stadium should prove an attractive proposition for fans.
