Liverpool are understood to be discussing a possible move for CSKA Moscow playmaker Keisuke Honda according to reports in the Metro.
The Reds have previously been linked with a move for the 26 year old Japanese international and are hoping to reach an agreement when his contract comes to an end this summer.
Brendan Rodgers has been given the go ahead to talk with the goal-scoring playmaker as the Russian club have confirmed the player does not wish to renew his deal next season.
‘We tried to extend his contract, but we can’t force him,’ confessed director Roman Babaev. ‘It is up to him what happens next.’
Honda has scored 23 goals in 96 appearances for CSKA, since joining in January 2010. He did however, help the side to a Russian Cup success in 2010/11.
