Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan, as the rebuilding process continues at Anfield.
Liverpool are 8/13 to beat Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League with Boylesports.com.
The Turkish attacking-midfielder was linked with a move to Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Arsenal during the January transfer window, but the deal failed to occur with Atletico flying high in La Liga. Turan has been a key part of Atleti’s successful season and Rodgers has identified him as the man to help Liverpool return to the upper echelons of English football.
Turan’s agent has stoked the fires ahead of a potential summer move. “Arda has played at Atletico Madrid for two seasons now. I have wanted to see him play for another team in another league and Arda wants the same.”
Rodgers is believed to be readying a £19 million bid, with Turan’s agent commenting, “there are only 5-6 clubs which could afford Arda right now and he’s going to join one of those five clubs.”
A busy summer is expected in Anfield, as a number of inconsistent performances has seen Liverpool’s Champions League qualification ambitions become more and more unlikely.
