Gareth Bale’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is beginning to look increasingly doubtful as the weeks trundle on towards the closure of the transfer window, as Real Madrid get ready to prepare a second bid.
According to a story published in the Telegraph early on Tuesday morning by John Percy, it looks as though the Madrid club are set to table an improved bid for the tricky winger as they show off exactly how much they can stretch their purse-strings.
It seems clear now that the winger-cum-striker is keen to make the move to La Liga in an effort to put his football skills to the test against some of the best players in the world.
However, in the same story it was also revealed that Bale is not prepared to submit a transfer request.
Perhaps it’s a humble gesture of loyalty or simply a sign of a player who doesn’t want to leave amid acrimonious circumstances, however regardless it looks as though his fate is now in the hands of others.
If Madrid club president Florentino Perez doesn’t increase the offer substantially enough, it’s possible that the deal may not go through this summer.
Of course, you get the feeling that it’s only a matter of time before Bale does make for the White Hart Lane exit door, even if the fee doesn’t reach world-record transfer proportions.
Spurs are currently 33/1 to lift the Premier League trophy with Boylesports.
