Reigning Premier League champions Man City are now 11/8 joint-favourites (from 9/4) with their close rivals Man Utd (11/8 from evens) with Boylesports to win the Premier League following their 5-0 thrashing of Aston Villa on Saturday. United lost 1-0 at Norwich. It is the first time this season that City have topped the table.
In other markets, Luis Suarez is now 3/1 from 5/1 to be the Premier League’s top scorer this season after bagging a double for Liverpool at the weekend. Man Utd’s Robin van Persie, who failed to find the net on Saturday, remains the market leader at 2/1 (from 13/8). Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez each also scored two goals on Saturday and are now 8/1 (from 10/1) and 14/1 (from 16/1), respectively, with Boylesports to be the top flight’s top scorer this season.
In the relegation battle, QPR are 8/11 (from 7/5) to drop to the Championship following a 3-1 home defeat to fellow strugglers Southampton (7/10 from 8/15). Reading, who beat Everton 2-1 on Saturday, are now 7/10 from 8/13 to return to where they came from last season.
Nicola McGeady, PR spokesperson at Boylesports, said: “It was a topsy-turvy sort of weekend in the Premier, more glorious uncertainty than comforting predictability, which very much keeps everyone’s hopes and bets alive.”
She added: “City have not been playing particularly well but now find themselves top of the table. Our customers are taking this as an ominous sign for their rivals.”
