According to reports in The Metro, City are chasing the Argentine international who has scored 11 goals in 19 league appearances this season.
The paper claim that Sky Blues boss Roberto Mancini has already been to Italy to watch the 20-year-old in action. Lamela scored on Sunday in his sides 1-3 loss to Sampdoria in Serie A. Mancini is rumoured to be considering a major cull from the club this summer. Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko have been linked with moves away, while Scott Sinclair and Carlos Tevez are also considered under threat.
However, Lamela appears to have committed himself to Roma long term and has expressed his desire to play in Roma’s new stadium, which is set to be completed in 2016:
“I’d like to play in a stadium owned by Roma, for us but especially for our fans. Of course, being able to play in new stadiums owned by the clubs would benefit the whole league”.
