Spanish newspaper Marca, are reporting that Manchester United are preparing an €18million move for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
It is understood in the Spanish press that Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for the midfielder, with Manchester United one of several interested parties.
Due to a clause in his contract, Thiago can leave for €18million because he has not played enough games for the Catalan giants this season.
Thiago earns a reported €1.8million a year according to 101greatgoals, which United are willing to match.
Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is also interested in Thiago, as he prepares to take over as Bayern Munich head coach for next season.
Current Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova will allow Thiago to leave, but as is with all Barca players who leave, they will of course, install a buy back clause in any contract he may sign, so that if he does well abroad, Barcelona have the option of resigning him.
Manchester United manager David Moyes is keen to add some midfield muscle at Old Trafford, as the Premier League champions are at risk of becoming over reliant on Michael Carrick.
Should United bid for Thiago, it may prompt Manchester City and Bayern to do so also, with the final decision then with the Spaniard on where he would prefer to play next season.
