‘Off The Ball’ radio team resign from Newstalk

Huge news coming out of Newstalk today, with a statement reporting that the entire cast of the popular radio sports show, ‘Off The Ball’, are to leave with immediate effect.

This will come as a shock to many fans of the successful sports show. ‘Off The Ball’ has been on Irish radio for over ten years and is Ireland’s most popular sports show, winning nine PPI Awards.

A Newstalk statement explained that Newstalk Sports Editor Ger Girloy is to take over the running of the show.

”Ger Gilroy, Newstalk Sports Editor, who devised Off the Ball in 2002, will be joined by mainstays of the Newstalk sports team – Cian Murtagh, David McIntyre and Joe Molloy – in taking over the running of the show, starting tonight.

“Newstalk would like to thank Eoin, Simon, Ken, Ciaran and Mark for their contributions to the station and wish them luck in their future endeavours.”

It remains to be seen why there has been be a complete overthrow of the radio show, but all should be revealed on ‘Off The Ball’ on Monday night.

Station insiders have claimed the team disagreed with bosses about the future direction of the show, suggesting the OffTheBall team were keen to move to an earlier slot.
