Premiership sides monitoring Denisov situation

Updated: September 26, 2012

Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are all on red alert after Russian captain Igor Denisov was forced to train with the St Petersburg’s youth team.

According to TalkSPORT, Denisov is believe to be unhappy with the club’s decision to pay out a combined fee of £72 million pounds for Hulk and Alex Witsel claiming there was no justification for their salaries, believed to be three times that of Denisov and his team mates.

Denisov was quoted as telling Russian newspaper Sport-Express: “I could understand it if we signed Messi or Iniesta, who are worth any price. Yes, we bought good players who clearly will help Zenit. But they are so much better than others to earn a salary three times better?”

Furious St. Petersburg have reacted by forcing Denisov and his team mate Alexander Kerzhakov to train away from the first team.

The situation has alerted the likes of Arsenal and City who are all interested in the 28 year old and could make January moves.
