Reports in the Spanish media have claimed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has decided to sell Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Portuguese hit-man continues to stall on a new contract.

Ronaldo has hinted that he is unhappy at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, even refusing to celebrate on occasions after scoring in the league. The former-Manchester United star has expressed his desire to see out his current contract, but with the expiration date of 2015 quickly approaching Real Madrid will do everything they can to prevent the world-record £80 million signing from walking away for nothing.
Ronaldo has admitted that he would like to return to the Premier League at some stage in his career, and has often referred to Alex Ferguson as a father-figure. He was quick to commit to his current contract at Real Madrid, but added: “I do not know what the future will hold.” Ronaldo has been in blistering form since he signed for the Madrid club in 2009 and it is clear that they would receive a world-record fee for his services.
It is believed that Perez wants to use the proposed windfall to boost his re-election campaign and rebuild the current Madrid squad, who currently find themselves in third place in La Liga behind rivals Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. Perez’ candidacy is synonymous with the ‘Galactico’ era of Madrid and he will be eager to rebuild a similar team.
A number of top stars have been linked with the Madrid club, including Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and Golden Boy winner Isco at Malaga. Santos’ Brazilian sensation Neymar has also been linked with a move to the Spanish capital.
