Irelands under 18 goalkeeper Harry Doherty looks set to sign a one year deal with championship side Brighton, after being released by Charlton Athletic last month.
Doherty, from Donegal, was released by the Valiants after club bosses decided there was no pathway through to the first team for him,
However that could all have changed as first team ‘keeper Ben Hamer looks likely to join Premiership new boys Leicester City.
That won’t worry Doherty however, he confirmed ‘I have done a weeks trial with Brighton, their academy head coach John Morling would know me from his involvement with Irish under age set ups, and they have offered me a years deal.
‘After being let go by Charlton it’s a massive confidence booster that another championship team seems to think I have a chance of making it all the way.
‘I haven’t signed anything yet, but my minds fairly made up on I reckon I’ll accept the offer’
