Slowly but surely, Wayne Rooney’s potential move to Chelsea seems to be losing momentum.
All this summer, countless column inches have been written about the possible future of Wayne Rooney, and now, with approximately three weeks left of the transfer window, it looks as if Rooney is set to be stuck at Old Trafford for yet another season.
Of course, Manchester United have already rejected two official bids from Chelsea for the England international and so, Rooney is likely to be fully aware of just how slim his chances of a cross-country move are.
As reported by the Guardian on Wednesday by Jamie Jackson, Rooney is essentially trapped where he is. The only option he has is to submit a written transfer request.
Aside from that, he could follow suit of Luis Suarez and publicly declare his intentions, although Rooney is likely to be monitoring that situation closely to see how that strategy pans out for the Uruguayan.
In truth, it’s sad to see a player of Rooney’s quality being resigned to the bench as a back-up to Robin Van Persie, but it looks as though that shall be his immediate future, bar an unlikely swoop from a top foreign side.
Nonetheless, Boylesports is offering 4/7 that Wayne Rooney will play at Chelsea for the 2013/14 Premier League season.
Leon Blanche, Head of Communications at Boylesports told SportsNewsIreland : “Despite David Moyes claiming that Rooney is not for sale we have seen continuous support for Rooney to be playing at Chelsea.”
He added “Wayne Rooney netted twelve goals in last season’s Premier League and is 14/1 to be awarded the 2013/14 Golden Boot.”
