Tobias Schweinsteiger, the older brother of German internation Bastian, is to join the Bavarian giants in the summer.
Tobias, aged 30, is three years older than his higher profile brother who has been capped 90 times by the German national team and won five Bundesliga titles in his 10 years as a senior at the club.
It is thought that Tobias will play for Bayern’s reserves next season, having turned down a new deal from Bundesliga 3 side Jahn Regnesberg.
Tobias told German media: “I am glad this has been agreed now. I have decided not to sign a new deal with Jahn Regensburg. I would rather play for the reserves of Bayern Munich from next season and I am really looking forward to this.
I would like to help the younger players of their squad to make good progress. I like to support them with my experience. It’s a flattering thing to know that, from the summer, I will be playing for the same club as my brother, of course.”
