Scunthorpe United have extended the loan of Ireland under-21 international Shane Duffy until January 8 2012.
19 year old Duffy is on loan from Premier League outfit Everton and has made 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring once during his loan spell thus far.
The defender has experienced an upturn in fortunes since recovering from his life-threatening injury. His impressive club form has seen him become a mainstay in the Republic of Ireland youth teams and he has since appeared nine times at underage level, scoring once.
The Derry-born Republic of Ireland under 21 international previously had a loan spell with Championship club Burnley last season and it is thought that interest is high in the young centre half.
With Championship clubs such as Leeds United and Ipswich Town linked with Duffy prior to his move to Alan Knill’s Scunthorpe, speculation is mounting as to whether the defender will remain at Glanford Park after January.
