Shelbourne FC Preview & Team News -v- Bray Wanderers

Updated: September 27, 2012

Shelbourne have Bray Wanderers as visitors at Tolka Park on Friday night for their game in the Airtricity League Premier Division. Kick-off is 8pm

Bray had a great result last Friday night, when they took a point from their game against league leaders Sligo Rovers at the Carlisle Grounds. Shelbourne travelled to Dundalk and came away with the three points, courtesy of the only goal of the game, scored by  Paddy Kavanagh.

These two sides have met five times already this season, with Bray knocking Shelbourne out of the EA Sports Cup after extra-time and Shelbourne in turn knocking Wanderers out of the FAI Cup after a replay. In between, Shelbourne took three points from the league game played at Tolka Park in April  - and repeated that result in the Carlisle Grounds in July. None of these games was won by more than one goal, so it is expected that Friday’s game will once again be a tight affair.

On Friday night’s game,  manager Mathews commented “Bray had a good result against the team at the top of the table. It’s always difficult against any team in this division and Bray are no different. The players know the importance of the game and we will go into it  with confidence and a positive attitude, having picked up the three points last week in Oriel.”

Anto Murphy will again be missing having received an additional two games suspension as a result of his sending off against st Patricks Athletic. He will be joined in the stands by Stephen Paisley who has reached four yellow cards and is suspended for this game.

Doubts continue about the fitness of Philly Hughes and Philly Gorman, with groin and hip injuries respectively. A decision on their availability will not be taken until Friday evening.  Stephen Sheeran will once again make the step up from the Under 19 Elite team for this game.
