Sunderland play host to Reading at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon, Kick-Off 15.00
The Wearsiders will be hoping to kick off their Premier League home campaign by building on their battling goalless draw away to Arsenal last week, while Le Fondre’s last gasp penalty for Reading secured a point for Brian McDermott’s side against Stoke on their return to the top-flight last weekend. The Royals also took on champions Chelsea midweek, the game eventually finishing 4-2 to the Blues after Reading took the lead through Pavel Pogrebnyak and a Petr Cech error.
Sunderland confirmed the signing of striker Steven Fletcher from Wolves on Friday afternoon, but he is unlikely to start so soon after completing his transfer. Craig Gardner is expected to continue to fill in the gap at right back due to Phil Bardsley’s ongoing injury problems.
Reading manager McDermott has no fresh injury worries ahead of the match and can welcome forward Jason Roberts back from suspension.
