Sunday’s Transfer news

Updated: January 29, 2012

With just two days to go until the January transfer window slams shut, things seem to be hotting up with plenty of rumours circulating and deals being done. Here is Sunday’s main transfer news…

In demand Rangers striker Nikicia Jelavic has been attracting attention from West Ham among others but Everton have made bid for Jelavic according to reports. The Toffees are thought to be using the cash they received from the sale of Russian Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to Spartak Moscow for around £5 million. The winger completed his deal back to Russia today after days of talks. Jelavic’s representatives have claimed their client has said “it would be a dream come true” if he was to move to the Premier League and as a result Everton are now favourites to capture the front man ahead of West Ham.

Some interesting news coming out of Germany today with Bayer Leverkusen ready to listen to offers for captain Michael Ballack. The former Chelsea midfielder has been spectacularly linked with a return to England but to join Man United. He is 5/2 for a sensational move to Man Utd, with any Chinese club available at 3/1 and QPR 4/1 to snap him up.

Sunderland’s search for a new striker could see them buy Bolton veteran Kevin Davies. The England international has been out of favour this season at the Reebok and the Black Cats are interested in signing him after Owen Coyle confirmed there has been some contact between the clubs.
League One side MK Dons have completed the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Alan Smith on loan for the rest of the season. The injury plagued Smith is desperate for first team football and in a bid to resurrect his career, he has moved to the League One high flyers.

According to reports, Queens Park Rangers have made Bradley Orr available for transfer before Tuesday’s deadline, with two Championship clubs rumoured to be keen on the defender. While there are rumours that if Everton cannot sign Jelavic, they will move for Wolves frontman Kevin Doyle.

Today’s top story is no doubt the speculative move from Liverpool to offload out of form Andy Carroll. The Merseyside club offered Carroll in swap deal involving Carlos Tevez. Man City are believed to have rejected the offer promptly.
