Sunderland: The Black Cats may be without midweek match winner Stephane Sessegnon, who limped off with cramp after securing an injury time win over local rivals Middlesborough in Wednesday’s FA Cup replay.

Martin O’Neill will also be without Wes Brown, who picked up a knee injury in the first tie. Titus Bramble, David Vaughan and captain Lee Cattermole all remain out until the end of the month.

Nicklas Bendtner is not due back for two weeks but would have been ineligible to play against his parent club in any case.

Arsenal: Kieran Gibbs is unlikely to feature at the Stadium of Light but it is thought the full back is close to recovery.

Elsewhere, it is much the same for Arsene Wenger as Andre Santos, Abou Diaby, Jack Wilshire and Carl Jenkinson all remain out.
