Swansea are preparing to offer £3.5m for Watford defender Adrian Mariappa, according to goal.com.
With Spurs suffering from several injuries in their defence, Harry Redknapp could recall the impressive Stephen Caulker from his loan at Swansea.
Reports are claiming Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers would move to plug that gap and increase his defensive depth by signing Mariappa.
Newcastle have reportedly offered £750,000 for the defender, with the clauses potentially raising the total to £3m. Swansea’s straight cash offer of £3.5m could force Watford’s hands.
Mariappa is a 25 year old English defender, who has spent his whole career at Vicarage Road.
