The Daily Mail are reporting that Fernando Torres has rejected the opportunity to join mega rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, but the Spaniard will be considering his future at Chelsea.

Anzhi would offer Torres the same kind of wages he is making with Chelsea now, as the Russian club have money to burn as they are currently making former Barcelona star Samuel Eto’o the best paid player in world football. However Torres does not want to move his family to Russia and he wants to play in Europe’s best leagues.

Torres joined the Blues from Liverpool for a massive £50 million in 2011 but has failed to hit those heights he did in his time at Anfield. The Spaniard has scored a dismal 27 goals in 115 games for Chelsea and his last Premier League goal came way back in December.

In the time since his last Premier League goal, he has score against mediocre opponents, netting against Brentford and Middlesbrough. He has 15 goals this season compared to his total of 11 last season but it is still not enough of a return for £50 million.

There are rumours linking Torres with a return to Anfield for £15 million, or he could be used as part of a deal to bring Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea.

It is understood that he would prefer a move away from the premier league, with Italy and Spain being his favoured destinations. He will however wait until deciding on his future until Chelsea have resolved their managerial issues and see where the club finish at the end of the season. Juventus would be the obvious choice for a move to Italy and they have been linked with a move for Torres before, whilst in Spain Barcelona and his former side Ateltico Madrid are the front runners.
