Updated: October 4, 2012

Andre Villas Boas has struck true to his word that he is going to give the Europa League the respect he feels it is deserves by attempting to win the competition in his first year at Spurs, as the strength of his team for tonight’s trip to Greek side Panathinaikos shows.

Villas Boas has made three changes from the side that beat Manchester United at the weekend, with Sandro and William Gallas dropping to the bench and goalkeeper Brad Fridel being rested in favour of Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen; Dembele, Huddleston; Lennon, Dempsey, Bale; Defoe
Subs: Cudicini, Gallas, Sandro, Townsend, Falque, Mason and Sigurdsson.
