Belgian champions Anderlecht have confirmed that West Ham have expressed interest in signing their highly rated Senegalese defender Cheikhou Kouyate.
The Hammers will have to compete with Valencia, Sevilla and Red Bull Salzburg in the race to sign the centre back, who is under contract with Anderlecht until 2016. Arsenal are also linked with Kouyate.
The 24 year old will not be cheap though, and it is reported that a minimum bid of €10 million will be required to pry him away from Anderlecht.
Anderlecht’s sporting director Herman van Holsbeeck told Estadio Deportivo, “We have had talks with Sevilla, Valencia and Salzburg, and West Ham have contacted us,” Van Holsbeeck told Estadio Deportivo.”
“We want to make the best possible decision and sell from the most profitable aspect for us, although we take into account the opinion of the player.”
Kouyate played in all but two of the Beligan club’s Pro League fixtures last season and made six appearances in the Champions League.
