It looks as though Arsenal’s transfer woes are set to continue after it was reported this morning that Real Madrid star Angel di Maria is likely to complete a move to Galatasaray in the coming days.
Having failed to lure Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye, Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and a whole host of others to the Emirates, the Gunners eventually turned their attentions to pacy Argentine international Di Maria.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, however, it seems as though they are to be pipped to the post by Turkish club Galatasaray. ITV Sport revealed on Wednesday morning that Turkish publication Hurriyet had reported that both presidents have already agreed a deal to make the move happen.
Months and months of fans urging Wenger to spend some cash on the transfer market has ended in just one signing after former Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo joined their ranks. However, that has not satisfied the countless fans who demand higher-profile signings that will allow them to keep Tottenham at bay.
Their North London rivals have really spent big this summer with Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue and others all being brought on board by Andre Villa-Boas to bolster his squad for the onslaught of games that are to come.
Of course, it’s also been reported that another Madrid player, Iker Casillas could well join Arsenal as competition for Wojciech Szczesny, although Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea are also though to be interested in him. And as the September 2 deadline draws closer, they really are running out of time.
In truth, unless the Gunners decide to up their bid for di Maria it’s likely that the frustration will continue and he will agree personal terms with the club, and they will miss out on yet another target.
