On Monday night at Old Trafford, Manchester United and Chelsea played out a scoreless draw in what was, by all accounts quite a drab affair.
The result means little in the way of anything important with regard to the fight for the title, as it’s so early n the season, but there were still plenty of talking points after the match.
Of course, Chelsea will have been the happier side to come away from Old Trafford with a point, while United will be a little disappointed that they couldn’t use home advantage to force through a win.
There weren’t many clear-cut chances throughout the 90 minutes, which will have surprised many a pundit, especially considering the wealth of attacking talent that was on display. Robin Van Persie, Oscar and the rest simply didn’t bring their shooting boots with them as neither net was rattled.
One man who did receive a lot of attention was United striker Wayne Rooney. Having become the subject of much speculation over the course of the summer, he had to face up to the team he’s been linked with for so long. For many, it was a chance to prove himself, and for the most part, he seems to have passed the test.
So, it’s time for SportsNewsIreland to bring you the best tweets of the night:
Wayne Rooney is going nowhere. Manchester United simply cannot afford to lose him.

Not the greatest of games. Mourinho didn't fancy losing that one. @WayneRooney showed a great attitude.

Got to say though, great to have Mourinho back in the Premier League. Just makes life more exciting.
