Wolves beat 10-man QPR

Wolves gained a valuable 2-1 victory away to 10-man QPR on Saturday. Bobby Zamora opened the scoring for QPR, but goals from Matt Jarvis and Kevin Doyle won the match for Mick McCarthy’s men.

The victory was huge for Mick McCarthy, who has received criticism in recent weeks after a bad run of form. It was Djibril Cisse’s 34th minute sending off for violent conduct that cost Mark Hughes’ side dearly, however.

Bobby Zamora gave QPR a 17th minute lead. A good ball from Adel Taarabt found Cisse, who turned and passed to Shaun Wright-Phillips. The wingers flicked the ball to Zamora, who powered home from 12 yards.

Cisse’s was sent off seventeen minutes later and it changed the game. Roger Johnson tackled the striker hard from behind and the QPR man responded by grabbing Johnson’s throat. Cisse caused no harm to the English defender but the referee was left with no choice but to issue the red card.

Wolves’ two goals came in the second half and Matt Jarvis scored the first just after the interval. The winger cut inside from the winger and delivered a beautiful finish into the far corner of the Wolves net.

Kevin Doyle won the match for Wolves in the 71st minute. Jamie O’Hara played the ball into the box and it was flicked on by Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. Doyle ran onto the ball and finished with his left foot to give McCarthy’s men the victory.

The win lifts Wolves out of the relegation zone and into joint 16th with QPR.
