As Arsenal look to build their next title challenging side of youth and talent they appear to be scanning the pitches of South America. Reports have surfaced linking the London based club with 20 year old midfield maestro Wellington Nem.
According to SambaFoot Arsenal had a scout present during Fluminense’s recent game against Boca Juniors. Wellington has been attracting a lot of interest from Europe this season after returning to his club after a short loan spell and has been in sensational form since his return.
Arsenal are well known for their nurturing nature as a club and for bringing forward young talent, and with Wellington openly admitting that he often thinks about playing in Europe Arsenal could well be the ideal fit.
His dreams of playing for a big European club go hand in hand with playing in the biggest European competitions. Like any player Wellington will want to test himself in the Champions League and try to stake a claim for his International career. Arsenal could certainly offer him that platform.
Wellington Nem is currently contracted to Fluminense until 2014 and has been included in the 52-man preliminary squad for the Brazil Olympic Football Team.
Whether or not this move will actually materialize remains to be seen. Either way I think it’s safe to say we will be seeing more of Wellington Nem soon.
