Updated: April 19, 2012

There is just over two weeks to the third annual Cycle4haiti charity cycle, which aims to raise a raise €300,000 for The Soul of Haiti Foundation. The 228k cycle will take place over the May bank holiday weekend kicking off Saturday 5th May from three locations – Dublin, Sligo and Tipperary and converging in Athlone for an overnight rest. The following day, Sunday 6th May, one big peleton will cycle from Athlone to Galway finishing with a night of celebration!

According to Michael Dawson co founder of the Soul of Haiti Foundation, “This Cycle is all about raising funds for a great charity, while having a great time doing it! Over the course of the two days cycling to Galway we will have slow bike races, competitions, prizes, a night out in Athlone to refresh yourself after the first day cycling ending with a celebration in Galway on Sunday night.”

All accommodation, food and refreshments are provided over the two days and cyclists will receive a commemorative cycling jersey, hoodie and water bottle. Transport of bikes back to each starting location is also provided.

A number of familiar faces including TV3 presenter Aidan Cooney and Munster and Ireland rugby legend Mick Galwey have also committed to the cycle. There are limited places left so sign up now at where you will also find information on training events across Ireland in the run up to the cycle.
The €125,000 raised by Cycle4haiti in 2011 went directly to support the development of Soul of Haiti Foundation projects. Soul of Haiti has been able to re-roof an entire orphanage on Île à Vache, provide medical and other supplies to assist with the care of the children with these funds. The funds have also enabled Soul of Haiti to provide local fishermen with new boats and safety equipment; they have also built an enterprise centre for the village which included the installation of the solar powered refrigeration units to help improve enterprise in the area.

Michael Dawson, One4all CEO and co-founder of the Soul of Haiti Foundation said, “The level of support for Cycle4haiti has been phenomenal to date. This year, we want to raise the bar and exceed our expectations. The cycle is a small challenge that can help make a big difference to the lives of people in Haiti and cyclists of all levels can take part.”

The goal of Cycle4haiti is to raise money for the Soul of Haiti Foundation and donations can be made directly to the cause by visiting, by searching for “Cycle4Haiti” on or by making a donation at any of the fundraising events in the lead up to this year’s cycle.
