Luke Fitzgerald is set to sign a new contract with Leinster this week.
Leinster qualified for the Heineken Cup final after a dramatic 19-15 victory over Clement Auvergne on Sunday and followed up by announcing new deals for 18 players.
Key players like Isa Nacewa, captain Leo Cullen and Gordon D’Arcy and academy products like David Kearney, Ian Madigan and Andrew Conway received new deals, but Fitzgerald was not included in the renewals.
The IRFU are believed to be close to agreeing terms with Fitzgerald’s representatives, however.
Talks between the parties reportedly hit an impasse after the IRFU asked Fitzgerald to take an estimated €80,000 pay cut from his €280,000 salary. A compromise is believed to have been made, however.
Other players to receive new deals include Heinke van der Merwe, Isaac Boss, Rhys Ruddock and Eoin Reddan.
