Updated: May 2, 2012

Interim Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has said that the experienced players in his team are key to securing fourth place in the Premier League.

“We have players that have been in this situation,” said the forty one year old.

With only three league games remaining Chelsea are currently sixth in the league, one point behind fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur. Di Matteo’s men take on high flying Newcastle, who are currently level on points with Spurs this Wednesday at Stamford Bridge. On Saturday Chelsea will make the short trip to Wembley to battle against Liverpool in the F.A Cup final.

“We know how important the game is tomorrow for our club. The players that are going to be playing will be fully committed, we’ve not talked about the [FA] Cup final at all.” continued the blues boss
Di Matteo will be looking to veterans John Terry, Didier Drogba, Petr Cech, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole to keep the blues on course as their fixture list piles up.

“We have players that have been in this situation and have the experience to be playing in all these important games with a lot of pressure, that could prove decisive” he said.
