Less than a week after announcing that prodigal son Shane Geraghty will return to London Irish next season, the Exiles have named yet another signing. London Irish have snapped up Rugby League star Setaimata Sa from Catalan Dragons.
Setaimata Sa who can play centre or along the back row stands at approximately 6ft3 and weighs in at 100kg and is just twenty-four years old. Sa’s skill and flair in attack were surely what first caught the eye of London Irish but Sa is exceptional in defence. He may have scored ten tries in thirty-nine for the dragons but this season alone he has registered eighty-eight tackles and has missed just three.
Director of Rugby at London Irish, Brian Smith believes Setaimata Sa could be the ideal replacement for Seilala Mapasua who has secured a move to Japanese side Kubota Spears.
London Irish are clearly a side in transition and with Mike Catt heading into the England backroom the Exiles will be looking for a coach that can get the likes of Sa, Geraghty and Tom Homer firing on all cylinders.
